Bud and Gains…

Journal

Let’s talk about Cannabis. Maybe this is a topic I shouldn’t be speaking of. Maybe someone won’t like the topic…but you know me and should know I don’t give a fuck. So now that that’s out, I want to speak about this wonderful herb. YES! I am a proud supporter of this natural herb. YES! I’ve been a consumer as long as I can remember. YES, I’ll consume it until the death of me. In life it has done wonderful things but nothing as extraordinary as what it’s done for me in terms of building and healing my body.

It’s going on 4 years that I haven’t missed a workout without being high. Every single workout, I’ve been high. Why you ask? Focus, Appetite, and muscle recovery to only name a few. And truly, when I smoke, idk if it releases endorphins or some shit but I’m just genuinely a nicer and better human when I’m high. It’s weird but I like it. Lol

The focus I have when I consume the plant is what makes me realize this is a herb for me. When I’m high in the gym….I’m focused beyond a level of human requirement. Every muscle, I feel. My mind is nowhere else except the muscle that’s being worked. No outside noise could distract me. I’m zoned in and I believe without this focus, I wouldn’t be able to build my body how I’ve built it.

The appetite is the next great thing about cannabis. As a bodybuilder, many of you know the huge amounts of food that’s required to make this big machine function. Without the herb, I could never eat what’s required. Shit, even with the herb it’s still hard for me to eat what’s required BUT, it helps tremendously. After I smoke, I’m always hungry. No matter the time of day. I can smoke at 3am and 15 minutes after, I’m starving. At this stage in my journey, “being hungry” is an essential part of going where I need to go. After my workout, I’m literally dying for food and that’s where the benefits come in at.

The science: In a paper published in the journal Nature Neuroscience this week, Tamas Horvath (a neurobiologist at Yale University) and his colleagues found that cannabis tricks your brain into thinking you’re starving, even if you’re full.

“It’s like pressing a car’s brakes and accelerating instead,” Horvath said in a press release. “We were surprised to find that the neurons we thought were responsible for shutting down eating, were suddenly being activated and promoting hunger, even when you are full. It fools the brain’s central feeding system.” You can read more of this article at https://www.pbs.org/newshour/science/weed-makes-super-hungry-according-science

Sleep!!!

Yes, sleep. There’s no sleep better than smoking one before bed. Nothing can compare. For the 40 million+ in this country suffering from insomnia or any related issue, the natural herb will be far better than any prescription sleep aid you have in your medicine cabinet. An estimated 10 million Americans have a prescription for Ambien or some other pharmaceutical sleep medication and 4 percent of adults report that they have taken a sleeping pill or sedative in the previous month.  Some of the more common side effects for these pills include:

  • Daytime drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, feeling “drugged” or light-headed
  • Tired feeling, loss of coordination
  • Stuffy nose, dry mouth, nose or throat irritation
  • Nausea, constipation, diarrhea, upset stomach
  • Headache, muscle pain

However, you have to know your strains of cannabis and what to buy. I can go into detail about Sativa and Indica strains but I’ll leave you some homework. Research it and learn about the 2 primary strains. You need the sleep. Your health depends on it.

Am I worried about what other people think of me being high? Back then I did. Today? Not even. That’s because I now have a clear view of how extraordinary the herb is. It’s truly a medicine and does miracles to the body. If you’re someone who get judged a lot for being high, don’t worry. You’re being judged by consuming a natural plant that was put here by the creator himself for you and me as a healing power. People are on prescription drugs yet judge people who smoke weed. People are out here in the drive thru of fast food joints yet judging people who smoke weed. People out here drinking alcoholic poison every night but judging you because you smoke a natural plant. Prescriptions, fast food, and alcohol will kill you faster than any marijuana would. Believe me. So don’t fret in the face of the judgmental. You should ask them why they’re not consuming the plant because they should.

I believe there should be extensive studies on the relation between cannabis and bodybuilding. There has to be a connection between the two and if not, it’s working for me. (Shrugs)

As a final remark, use it. Don’t abuse it. And if you realize it’s affecting your life in a negative way, by any means, stop the consumption of it. Always remember, Live, Laugh, and Love!
